Community Media

Community Media refers to televised local programming over cable and streamed local video over the internet. Members of MACTA may provide community television facilities in their communities. These facilities may be called PEG facilities. PEG stands for Public, Educational and Governmental programming. PEG facilities may have studios and portable television production equipment for use by community entities including schools, non-profit organizations and individual residents after completing production workshops at the studios. Some city members may have government production facilities used by city staff only to produce local government programming.

Cable companies are required through franchise agreements to provide television channels for carriage of community television programming. MACTA promotes community programming and the concept of citizens having access to the media. Community Television has been available and promoted by MACTA to the public for its twenty-five year history of representing Minnesota cities in telecommunications.
