South Washington County Telecommunications Commission
The first regularly scheduled meeting of the South Washington County Telecommunications Commission (SWCTC) was held on October 29, 1981. Prior to the Commission being established, then, as the South Washington County Cable Commission, the Joint Cable Television Committee was originally established a couple of years prior.
SWCTC serves five member cities in the south east metro: Woodbury, Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport and Grey Cloud Island Township.
Total population within our member cities is approximately 114,000.
SWCTC is a structured as a Joint Powers Agreement between the five member cities. Each city appoints two Commission Directors and one alternate. The Commission elects four officers. The Administrator reports to the Commission Chair.
SWCTC also works closely with the city Communications departments, IT and Administration.
SWCTC employs 7 full-time employees and 4 part-time employees.
